Maine Lighthouse Challenge

Grab your camera and binoculars and get ready for the Midcoast Maine Lighthouse Challenge of 2012. For two days only, June 23 and 24, 2012, the following lighthouses will be open for visitors:

Dyce Head,
Fort Point,
Grindle Point,
Rockland Breakwater,
Owls Head,
Marshall Point and
Pemaquid Point

If you’re not a lighthouse buff, allow me to mention that this is not an every day occurrence. Rockland, which is home to the Breakwater light and its neighbor Owl’s Head light, is also home to the Lighthouse Museum, the Sail, Power and Steam Museum as well as a US Coast Guard American Lighthouse Foundation Interpretive Center, with the Penobscot Marine Museum about 45 minutes north in Searsport. Make it an action packed day – visit all the lighthouses and be entered to win a luxurious prize.
